present in uncleaved forms in horse neutrophils. active against a broad range of bacteria such as E. coli ATCC 25922, E. coli ML 35 (MIC 14 ug/ml), S. marcescens ATCC 8100, K. pneumoniae ATCC 13883 (MIC 28.5), S. aureus ATCC 25923 (MIC 57 ug/ml), S. epidermidis ATCC 12228 (MIC 28.5 ug/ml), and B. megaterium Bm11 (MIC 14 ug/ml). Active against fungi various C. neoformans, R. rubra (MIC 21-57 ug/ml) in RPMI medium (Skerlavaj B et al., 2001). Updated 7/8/2013. eCATH-2 has Antimicrobial activity. The source of eCATH-2 is myeloid cells, Horse Equus asinus.

| About TFA salt: | Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a strong acid, which is commonly used to cleave synthesized peptides from solid-phase resins and is also used to improve HPLC performance in the peptide purification step. By default, custom peptides are delivered as lyophilized TFA salts, and can contain as much as 10-45% TFA. TFA in custom peptides can cause inexplicable discrepancies in subsequent assay data. For instance, TFA in nM concentrations has been shown to interfere with cellular assays, inhibiting cellular proliferation in some instances, and increasing cell viability in others. It has also been found to be an unintended allosteric modulator of the glycine receptor, GlyR.
