This peptide inhibits the activation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. It promotes adhesion of human melanoma cells and inhibits their proliferation by 40%. These properties appear to be dependent on the presence of the triplet sequence -Ser-Asn-Ser- (residues 189-191), which is unique in the alpha3 chain and may represent an important functional epitope.

| About TFA salt: | Trifluoroacetic acid (TFA) is a strong acid, which is commonly used to cleave synthesized peptides from solid-phase resins and is also used to improve HPLC performance in the peptide purification step.
